Unprecedented secrecy measures raise questions about legality, oversight, and the true scope of U.S. missions in the region.
Let’s cut through the bullshit, shall we? The second Trump administration is gagging U.S. military officials with NDA’s. That’s not security. That’s control. The military already has classification laws. Forcing soldiers to sign private contracts is about silencing them and keeping Congress in the dark. It’s a corporate trick shoved into the chain of command.

Look at the muscle being thrown around. An aircraft carrier, destroyers, F‑35s, a nuclear sub, and more than 16,000 troops. That’s not a drug patrol. That’s a war posture. And the White House is hiding it under the flimsy excuse of “counter‑narcotics.” Nobody needs a carrier strike group to chase smugglers in fishing boats.
The body count is already climbing. Thirteen strikes since September. Fifty‑seven people are dead from Venezuela, Colombia, and Ecuador. No transparency on who they were. No accountability for how they were killed. Just numbers buried under secrecy while the Pentagon hunts so-called “leakers” instead of answering questions.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has locked down information. Press access has been cut off. Congressional briefings have been throttled. Staff have been told to clear their words before speaking. It’s deliberate.
Trump is escalating the geopolitical rhetoric, too. Calling Colombia’s president a “drug leader.” Slapping sanctions on Bogotá. Floating authority for even bigger operations. This isn’t about drugs. It’s about destabilizing governments and flexing U.S. power in the hemisphere. Hmmmm… who does THAT sound like?
Here’s the bottom line: Any active or former service member will tell you that NDA’s in the military are a red flag the size of a battleship. They mean the administration doesn’t trust the system of checks and balances, or more likely, is avoiding it. This means Congress is being sidelined. This means the public is being lied to. If this sticks, going forward, presidents (including Democratic presidents) will have a blank check to wage undeclared wars whenever and wherever they want.
